Someone once said that Ireland is like a doughnut, with all the sugary bits around the outside. What they meant was that although the middle of Ireland is nice enough, the really scenic areas are around the coastal areas – and of course these are the areas that our tours head to and concentrate on. So in some cases we find that the tours can be enhanced by using the Irish Train network to whisk our customers down to the really good bits on the first morning of a tour, or back on the last afternoon.
Using the train network actually has several major advantages
- It means we can offer a much wider range of varying lengths, on different departure days, to different parts of the country
- It means that you reach the scenic areas quicker and have more time there. By having more time on the first or last day can mean quite a difference over a 5 day tour.
For example, on our five day south west tour, if the passengers came back by train it gives the tour more time in the Kerry for things like visiting the Skellig Islands, surfing etc. - Also it is more environmentally friendly to use the trains than driving up and down the country.
Whenever we do use the train network, we book the passengers onto the train and pay for it and this is included in the price of the tour.
Please note that not all trips use the train network but we will keep you fully informed long before your tour.
